Charlotte Despard

Philip Orr will discuss the life of Charlotte Despard, one of the most remarkable figures of the women’s suffrage movement who lived for a while on Belfast’s Newtownards Road in the 1930s.

Charlotte Despard was in her eighties by then but still an avid revolutionary. So much so that her home was kept under the watchful daily eye of the police.

This event is part of the Eastside Arts Festival 2018, which runs from 2 – 12 August 2018.
