Mid Ulster District Council is organising a series of talks around the Decade of Anniversaries (1912-1923).
The series of talks and discussions deal with the historical facts that mark the key shifts in society that happened during this turning point in history and give meaning to the events that happened across the divide, helping to promote a deeper understanding of our shared history and culture.
Ireland’s history is often discussed in isolation. However, the 1916 Rising directly impacted European and the global political picture. The future of Ireland was directly influenced by intensifying waves of political and social radicalisation caused by the carnage of the great war, as will be discussed here by Shaun Harkin.
